CRA offers three field trip programs:
1. Wilkerson Center Field Trips (3rd-5th) Field Trips to the Wilkerson Center for Colorado River Education provide elementary-school students with TEKS-aligned information to inspire them to be future River Stewards. This is a unique, immersive, and memorable experience that emphasizes the importance of protecting Texas’s economic and environmental lifeblood—the Texas Colorado River. 2. The Mobile River (7th) The Mobile River is a traveling water science center that brings the river directly to the schools of 7th graders in the Texas Colorado River basin. Our hands-on exhibit is designed to connect students to their water source and teach them the importance of planning for the future in an engaging and exciting way. This program is especially valuable for schools that may not have the funding or support to take field trips to visit the river. The program also equips educators to deliver up to three in-classroom, TEKS-aligned lessons designed to bring real-world experiences into the classroom. Hands-on materials are provided to facilitate critical thinking and encourage the use of scientific techniques. (https://form.jotform.com/253187434357160)
3. Friends of Dowser Dan (K-2nd) Friends of Dowser Dan is an assembly-style educational program that has delivered the important message of water conservation to elementary school students in the community for 30 years with bright costumes, amusing characters, and engaging music.
