Making Room for Mud: Play, Creativity, and Learning
June 9, 2027 2pm
Webinar with Cheryl Potemkin
Get ready for International Mud Day! Mud play offers opportunities for creativity, exploration, and learning, but for many educators, the thought of introducing mud into their learning environments can feel a little overwhelming. In this webinar, we'll explore the value of mud play in and share practical, manageable ways to invite children to experiment, create, and discover with mud, whether outdoors or inside the classroom.
Through examples of mud pies, mud painting, mixing experiments, and mud kitchens, participants will discover connections to early mathematics, science, fine motor development, creative expression, and imaginative play. Educators will leave with ideas for adapting mud play to their own spaces, materials, and comfort levels, along with resources and inspiration for celebrating International Mud Day on June 29.
