Teacher workshop with Sara Ramirez, Dallas ISD

The Dallas ISD Environmental Education Center hosts a three-week Summer Science Enrichment camp for incoming 5th graders. This camp connects students with hands-on outdoor experiences to help students perform better on the “Organisms and Environments” strand of the TEKS for the STAAR test. This presentation will showcase how to incorporate entomology into your camps and classroom lessons. Entomology is a great way to connect students with nature through outdoor exploration and bug collecting. This session will review program logistics and lesson activities. Participants will meet live arthropods and learn about hands-on lessons related to metamorphosis, food webs, and adaptations. Participants will receive access to a Google Folder with lesson plans and activities.
